About Us

“Brent Skurda is the pit master and owner of BBQ Daddy – Southern Style Smokin’.  After years of success in owning a landscaping company, he decided it was time to follow his real dream of sharing delicious BBQ with the Metro-Detroit area.

Brent is a Southener with family roots in the great state of Tennessee. It was here that he learned the values of family, love, and how “great homemade eatin’ brings it all together!”

The first time someone asked him to cook for their company party, it ignited the fire and the Skurda family decided to officially start their catering business. When it came for a name, Brent fondly remembers asking his young daughters what they would like for dinner, and when both answered in unison saying, “ We Want BBQ, Daddy!”, he knew his brand was born.

The Skurda family have been perfecting their craft for the last several years and love working together in their family business. Brent’s wife Heather often cooks alongside him and both his daughters Brooke and Addison contribute in the food truck and work on catering events. Brent has surrounded himself with the things he values most- family and food.

The most recent addition to the BBQ Daddy family is their newly customized food truck to further expand their reach in the community. Also, by popular demand, they plan to begin bottling and selling their homemade BBQ Sauces in the coming months. 

While Brent can be found most days running the BBQ Pit and preparing that perfect balance of low and slow hickory smoke flavored meat, he’s never too busy for a quick hello and proudly offers free smells.
